Control

Integrated Control Systems

Integrated Control of motorized window shades simply means that the electric shades take their control cues from different input devices (usually keypads or touch screens) which also control other devices throughout the home.

For the optimal Integrated Control System, lifestyle and living patterns are especially crucial to glean from clients to truly customize their home automation and lighting (natural and artificial) solution. Importantly, in many cases, it is recommended that a Stand Alone System of motorized shade control also be provided as clients prefer a simple, single button press to operate motorized shades when that is all that is desired.

Stand Alone Control Systems

Motorized window treatments of any shape, size or style can be controlled in several different ways. Always reliable, a Stand Alone Control System implies that the shades are controlled by a switch or remote that is designed to raise and lower the shades exclusively.

Control is a key part of overall motorized shade system design. There are two types of control; Stand Alone and Integrated Control Systems. These systems can be wireless, using infrared, or more commonly radio frequency (RF) technologies or they can be hard-wired. The term 'hard-wired' means that the shade motor has a physical control wire that is connected to a wall switch or keypad/touch screen. In terms of flexibility, individual and group settings can easily be set with both systems. Integrated Control is in some ways more sophisticated and allows for specific scenarios (morning, bedtime, party, away etc) which incorporate lights, AC and A/V to create a total home 'scene'.

Every day of the year, the sun’s rays shine through your windows at slightly different angles*.  There are times when the sun is overpowering, resulting in glare, brightness, heat gain, and fading of flooring, furniture and artwork.  Precise, effortless sun control in your home is made possible with motorized blinds.  Not surprisingly, studies show that motorized shades and electric blinds installation provide significant energy savings (up to 30% per year).
*Seasonally, the sun is highest in the winter months and lowest in the summer)
